July 4th Storm

While many enjoyed Independence Day with cookouts, family gatherings, and fireworks, the volunteers of Wolfsville Volunteer Fire Company were hard at work away from their families serving the community.

The severe storms that moved through the area generated numerous emergency calls, including downed power lines, trees blocking roadways, trees on homes, and structure fires. Crews from Wolfsville Volunteer Fire Company worked alongside utility crews from Xfinity and the Maryland State Highway Administration to clear roadways and restore access for residents, ensuring emergency vehicles could reach those in need. Many roads throughout the primary service area were completely blocked, with some impassable in multiple locations.

The Wolfsville Volunteer Fire Company would like to extend sincere thanks to the DFRS/L3666 crew assigned to Myersville, community members who assisted in reopening MD Route 17, neighboring departments that offered personnel and equipment throughout the incident, and the personnel at Frederick County Emergency Communications for helping coordinate assistance to communities affected by the storm and other emergencies.

The dedication of volunteers and mutual aid partners who answered the call while others were celebrating is greatly appreciated. Thank you to everyone who helped keep the community safe.

Power lines and trees remain hazards throughout cleanup. If you encounter downed power lines, stay away and report it to 911.
